March 17th, 2007. The “Baby Faced Assassin” Marco Antonio Barrera makes the 5th defense of his WBC Super Featherweight Championship against Juan Manuel “Dinamita” Marquez who fought at 130 pounds for the first time.

Prefight records; Marquez 46(35)-3-1, Barrera 63(42)-4.

In November 2004, Barrera won the WBC Super Featherweight Title via MD12 over arch rival “El Terrible” Erik Morales in the rubber match of their legendary trilogy.

Between April 2005 and September 2006, he successfully retained his title 4 times and he was set to take on Marquez in his 5th title defense.

Entering the fight, Barrera was a Triple Crown World Champion at Super Bantamweight, Featherweight & Super Featherweight with notable wins over Frank Toledo, Orlando Fernandez, Eddie Cook, Agapito Sanchez, Jesus Salud, Paulie Ayala, Jose Luis Valbuena, Carlos Salazar, Mzonke Fana, Kevin Kelley, Kennedy McKinney, Daniel Jimenez, Enrique Sanchez, Johnny Tapia, Naseem Hamed, Robbie Peden, Rocky Juarez (2x) & Erik Morales (2x).

On the other hand, Marquez who was former IBF, WBA & WBO Featherweight Champion had victories over top oppositions such as Derrick Gainer, Daniel Jimenez, Orlando Salido, Remigio Daniel Molina, Terdsak Jandaeng, Agapito Sanchez, Alfred Kotey, Manuel Medina & Victor Polo.

Overall, it was a superbly competitive battle between 2 highly skilled Mexican veterans with Barrera taking an early lead before the fight becomes more even towards the midpoint followed by Marquez having the better of most of the exchanges in the second half.

From rounds 1 to 5, Barrera enjoyed more solid connects and displayed an elusive defense.

However, Marquez equalized the momentum in round 6.

In round 7, Marquez made a huge comeback and dominated the action for the most part where he beat Barrera to the punch for the most part and even wobbled him twice. He looked en route to winning a 2 point round without scoring a knockdown until he was decked with an out-of-nowhere right hand just before the bell.

Unfortunately, due to referee Jay Nady’s delayed action in calling the knockdown, Marquez was clocked with a right hand while he was trying to get back on his feet which resulted in a point deduction for Barrera.

If it wasn’t for Nady’s blunder, it would have been a 10-9 round (instead of 10-8) for the challenger.

From rounds 8 to 12, Marquez displayed greater ring generalship and overall effectiveness as he connected with the cleaner shots upstairs and downstairs although Barrera had his moments as well.

The bout ended with a thunderous applause by the appreciative crowd.

After a grueling tactical warfare where explosive combinations were dispensed throughout 36 minutes of action, a new WBC Super Featherweight Champion was crowned via UD12 with scores of 118-109 & 116-111 (2x).

It should be noted that the lopsided verdict by the 3 judges were in any way a true reflection of what took place on this night when 2 legends clashed in the squared circle.

Nonetheless, Nady’s blunder did not affect the outcome.

How do you guys score this fight?

Personally, I have it 114-113 for Dinamita thus the 10-8 round made the difference in my card.

Enjoy this highlight of a tremendous fight where LEGENDS COLLIDE and remember to SUBSCRIBE!

On July 20, 2019, eight-division world champion Manny "Pac Man" Pacquiao silenced all the critics when he took to the ring in his first fight since turning 40 to battle then-champion Keith "One Time" Thurman in a welterweight world title bout, live on FOX Sports Pay-Per-View.

"It was fun," said Pacquiao. "My opponent is a good fighter and boxer. He was strong. I'm not that kind of boxer who talks a lot; we were just promoting the fight. I think he did his best, and I did my best. I think we made the fans happy tonight because it was a good fight."

The sell-out crowd of 14,356 got treated to great action from the start, as an exciting first round was capped off by Pacquiao dropping Thurman for the first time in his career with a straight right hand late in the round.

"I knew it was too close," said Thurman. "He got the knockdown so he had momentum in round one."

Thurman made it into the second round but continued to have trouble with Pacquiao's right hand, as the future Hall of Famer threw it successfully as a jab and a power punch throughout the fight. Thurman adjusted in the middle rounds and began to try to smother Pacquiao and walk him down, having success when he was able to get his combinations off before his opponent.

Despite blood pouring from his nose from round four on, Thurman was able to land powerful combinations on Pacquiao for much of the second half of the fight, but was never able to hurt Pacquiao or score a knockdown of his own.

"I wish I had a little bit more output to go toe to toe," said Thurman. "I felt like he was getting a little bit tired, but he did have experience in the ring. My conditioning and my output was just behind Manny Pacquiao's. I would love the rematch."

In round 10, Pacquiao's landed a strong left hook to the body that clearly hurt Thurman and forced him to spend much of the remainder of the round backpedaling. The CompuBox scores were indicative of the close nature of the fight, with Thurman out landing Pacquiao 210 to 195, while Pacquiao was busier throwing 686 punches to 571 from Thurman.

"I really love the fans," said Pacquiao. "Thank you so much for coming here and witnessing the fight. I'm sure they were happy tonight because they saw a good fight. Even though Thurman lost, he did his best. He's not an easy opponent. He's a good boxer and he's strong. I was just blessed tonight."

Pacquiao had a large advantage in jabs landed, connecting on 82 to Thurman's 18. The 192 power punches landed by Thurman was the most in 43 Pacquiao fights that CompuBox has tracked. Round-by-round, the two fighters were only separated by more than five landed punches in rounds two, seven and nine.

After 12 rounds, the judges reached a split decision, with one judge scoring the fight 114-113 for Thurman, overruled by two judges scoring it 115-112 for Pacquiao, who captured the WBA Welterweight World Championship at 40-years-old.

"You get blessings and lessons," said Thurman. "Tonight was a blessing and a lesson. Thank you everybody, and thank you Manny Pacquiao."

"I think (I will fight) next year," said Pacquiao. "I will go back to the Philippines and work and then make a decision. I do hope to be at the (Errol) Spence vs. (Shawn) Porter fight on September 28."

Emmanuel Dapidran Pacquiao Sr., CLH (locally Kibawe Bukidon born December 17, 1978) is a Filipino politician and former professional boxer. Nicknamed "PacMan", he is regarded as one of the greatest professional boxers of all time. He previously served as a Senator of the Philippines from 2016 to 2022.

Pacquiao is the only eight-division world champion in the history of boxing and has won twelve major world titles. He was the first boxer to win the lineal championship in five different weight classes,] the first boxer to win major world titles in four of the eight "glamour divisions" (flyweight, featherweight, lightweight, and welterweight), and is the only boxer to hold world championships across four decades (1990s, 2000s, 2010s, and 2020s). In July 2019, Pacquiao became the oldest welterweight world champion in history at the age of 40, and the first boxer in history to become a recognized four-time welterweight champion after defeating Keith Thurman to win the WBA (Super) welterweight title. As of 2015, Pacquiao's fights had generated $1.2 billion in revenue from his 25 pay-per-view bouts. According to Forbes, he was the second highest paid athlete in the world in 2015.

Pacquiao entered politics in 2010 when he was elected as the representative of Sarangani. He held this post for six years until he was elected and assumed office as a senator in 2016. He became the president of his party PDP–Laban in 2020 (which is disputed since 2021). On September 19, 2021, Pacquiao officially declared his candidacy for President of the Philippines in the 2022 Philippine presidential election, he ended up losing to Bongbong Marcos.

Outside of boxing and politics, Pacquiao was the head coach and a player for the Philippine Basketball Association team Kia/Mahindra for three seasons from 2014 to 2017, before founding the semi-professional Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League. He has also starred in films and has presented television shows. In music, he has released multiple PARI-certified platinum albums and songs; his cover of "Sometimes When We Touch" peaked at 19 in the United States on Billboard's Adult Contemporary chart after a performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. He is also an Evangelical Christian preacher, philanthropist, and entrepreneur.
